Q-Sourcing on behalf of Imprint Hope is hiring a Counsellor and will primary be responsibility to lead the implementation of high-quality evidence-based psych-social support interventions within Imprint Hope programs, including providing counseling directly with Imprint Hope beneficiary caregivers. You will work collaboratively within IH’s multi-disciplinary team, contributing leadership and technical expertise to ensure responsive and impactful holistic interventions for each beneficiary family. Imprint Hope commits itself to implement evidence-based programming which contributes to Integral Human Development (aligned to the ecological model), and prioritizes the safety and dignity of all program participants. You will contribute to the development of Imprint Hope’s program model and associated frameworks and procedures.

Location: Kayunga District, Uganda (based on travel requirement)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients under Imprint Hope’s program, as directed by your supervisor.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-informed care, in relation to your work with beneficiaries under Imprint Hope’s program.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the client’s history, challenges, support system and emotional needs.
  • Establish a trusting and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • In collaboration with your supervisor, create personalized treatment plans based on client assessments, considering their unique needs, history, and personal goals.
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping and confidentiality.
  • Empower clients to build coping strategies, self-care routines, and resilience skills.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards related to confidentiality and documentation at all times.
  • Provide culturally competent care by respecting and understanding the diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences of clients.
  • Tailor therapeutic approaches to be sensitive to cultural, religious, and socioeconomic factors.
  • Educate others (such as organizations, schools, or community groups) about trauma-informed care.
  • Assist in training new staff on trauma-informed therapeutic practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, therapeutic techniques, and trauma-related issues.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Requirements

Expected Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor-equivalent degree in Guidance and Counselling or other relevant degree – Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Additional training in trauma informed care is a benefit.
  • 1-3 years experience in a counselling role required.
  • Experience in a development project or community setting is a plus.
  • Experience focused on children and families is a plus.
  • Experience with rural or highly vulnerable populations is a plus.
  • Fluent English and Luganda speaker.
  • Basic Computer Skills – typing, email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic English-writing skills (ability to write basic sentences and paragraphs for emails, reports etc).
  • Experience with operations of an NGO is a plus.
  • Experience working with or knowledge about persons with disabilities is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Day travel to rural field locations within Kayunga District is estimated at 75%. No overnight travel anticipated.
