Dei BioPharma Ltd is a biotech and pharmaceutical research firm duly incorporated in Uganda, specializing in the development and manufacture of innovative medicines and vaccines.

The development of our drugs and vaccines manufacturing facility was commissioned on July 6, 2021, by President Yoweri Museveni and Kenya President William Ruto (then Vice President).

The state-of the art facility is situated in Matugga, Wakiso district. Uganda, and shall produce high quality medicines across a wide range of therapeutic areas.
These include malaria, cancer, generies, beta lactums, non betalactums, nutraceuticals, podies.

The manufacturing facility is gearing to produce one billion doses of mRNA vaccines guided by the most stringent global CMP including the US FDA, EU (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Job Summary:

The Encapsulation Operator is responsible for operating and supporting capsule filing processes for hard gelatin capsules in accordance with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

The role includes machine setup, loading powder or pellet formulations, performing in-process checks for capsule weight, integrity, and locking, and maintaining cleanliness and compliance in the encapsulation area.

The operator will assist in equipment changeovers, documentation and deviation reporting while ensuring traceability and product quality. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with capsule filling machines, a good understanding of GMP and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate semi-automatic or fully automatic capsule filling machines as per approved BMRs and SOPs.
2. Weigh and load powder or pellets into hoppers and ensure proper alignment of capsule shells.
3. Monitor capsule filling parameters such as fill weight, locking, and rejection rate during production,
4. Conduct and document in-process checks including fill weight variation and capsule integrity.
5. Assist with machine setup, cleaning, lubrication, and changeover between products.
6. Maintain strict adherence to cleaning procedures and hygiene protocols in the encapsulation area.
7. Record all production activities, machine use logs, and cleaning records in compliance with GDP.
8. Report any equipment malfunction, process deviations, or quality concers to the production supervisor.
9. Ensure proper segregation and handling of approved, rejected, and quarantined capsules.
10. Support continuous improvement and participate in relevant training sessions.
Academic Qualifications:

Minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (VACE) A certificate or diploma in Industrial Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, or a related technical field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Competencies:

1. Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience operating capsule filling equipment in a pharmaceutical facility
2. Familiarity with capsule manufacturing processes and machine troubleshooting.
3. Knowledge of GMP, GDP, and production documentation requirements

4. Ability to work accurately, follow instructions and maintain consistent output

5. Physically fit and able to work in a cleanroom or classified manufacturing environment
