Dei BioPharma Ltd is a biotech and pharmaceutical research firm duly incorporated in Uganda, specializing in the development and manufacture of innovative medicines and vaccines.
The development of our drugs and vaccines manufacturing facility was commissioned on July 6, 2021, by President Yoweri Museveni and Kenya President William Ruto (then Vice President).
The state-of the art facility is situated in Matugga, Wakiso district. Uganda, and shall produce high quality medicines across a wide range of therapeutic areas.
These include malaria, cancer, generies, beta lactums, non betalactums, nutraceuticals, podies.
The manufacturing facility is gearing to produce one billion doses of mRNA vaccines guided by the most stringent global CMP including the US FDA, EU (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Job Summary:
The Production Officer Coating is responsible for managing and supervising the tablet coating operations involved in the manufacture of oral solid dosage forms. This includes execution of aqueous and/or organic film and sugar coating processes using automated coating equipment in accordance with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The role entails monitoring critical process parameters (e.g., spray rate, inlet/outlet temperature, pan speed), ensuring uniform coating quality, conducting in-process checks, and maintaining accurate documentation. The officer will collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering and Validation teams to ensure process compliance, equipment readiness and timely completion of production batches.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in tablet coating techniques, equipment operation, defect troubleshooting, and adherence to regulatory manufacturing standard
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and execute the tablet coating process as per approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs) and SOPs.
2. Prepare coating solutions accurately using validated methods and approved raw materials.
3. Operate and monitor coating equipment including perforated pan coaters and spray guns, ensuring uniform film or sugar coating.
4. Monitor key process parameters such as spray rate, airflow, inlet outlet temperature, pan speed and weight gain.
5. Conduct and document in-process checks including appearance, weight gain, and coating uniformity.
6. Ensure proper cleaning, sanitization and status labeling of equipment and work areas before and after use.
7. Review batch documentation and ensure compliance with GMP, ALCOA+ data integrity and production standards.
8. Coordinate with QA, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment or process-related deviations.
9. Support validation, scale-up and troubleshooting of new or existing coated formulations.
10. Supervise and train coating operators to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Pharmacy, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience and Competencies:
1. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in tablet coating operations within a GMP-compliant pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
2. Proficient in operating automatic coating machines and preparing coating solutions.
3. Strong understanding of coating defects and their root causes (e.g., picking, peeling, color variation).
4. Experience in working with aqueous and organic coating systems.
5. Familiarity with GMP, cleaning validation, and production documentation requirements.
6. Effective supervisory, organizational and communication skills.
