EDUKANS International Uganda will be implementing the Leaders in Teaching program supported by
Mastercard Foundation in a consortium led by Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF). Leaders in Teaching
(LIT) initiative aims to transform secondary education across Africa by strengthening the capacity of
teachers and school leaders to enable young people to acquire skills, knowledge, and competencies
necessary to gain dignified and fulfilling employment. EDUKANS is a downstream partner under the
TRAIN pillar led by British Council which will lead efforts in innovation, competency-based
curriculum, gender-responsive pedagogy and career guidance.
The postholder will be responsible for:
1. Coordination of activities with the teacher training institutions.
2. Managing stakeholder relationships, ensure compliance with project goals and donor
requirements.
3. Contributing to the overall success of the programme.
4. Adherence to the approved budget and work plans, collecting the required data for M&E
functions and indicators, monitoring the teacher training institutions.
5. Preparing timely and high quality project reports, and will ensure that programme
implementation is in compliance with EDUKANS and donor requirements, rules and regulations,
while working closely with other implementing partners within the LIT Consortium, Teacher
training institutions, the Ministry of Education & Sports, Local Authorities and visiting donors
and stakeholders at the local level to promote extensive participation and complementarity of
EDUKANS programme and activities.
Key areas of accountability:
1. Project Planning, Coordination, & Delivery: Coordinate the development of teaching content in
the Learning Management system and training programs; Provide technical guidance in the
delivery of quality LIT program an emphasis on preservice teacher training.
2. Quality Delivery: Coordinate the development of educational materials, training manuals,
newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the LIT program; Promote and implement
collaboration, learning, and adaptation throughout Preservice training under the LIT
programme.
3. Resource Management: Provide technical and professional mentorship to all stakeholders and
partners LIT programme working on programme in the areas of financial literacy,
entrepreneurship and Gender responsive pedagogy; Coordinate activities of consultants,
trainers, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program
objectives.
4. Networking and Collaboration: Work with the universities and teacher training institutions
lecturers/tutors to support preservice students effectively utilize resources on the LMS; Network
with players in the sector to constructing a blended training programme for Preservice teacher
training in the area of Entrepreneurship, financial literacy and Gender responsive pedagogy.
5. Quality Control: Contribute to activity monitoring through consultative meetings with other LIT
partners, participate in joint field visits, and provide technical guidance to implementing
partners to ensure that activities are in line with the LIT programme.
Desirable qualification:
Relevant degree in education, Social Work, Community Development / Master’s degree in any
relevant field is an added advantage. Experience in teacher training and community engagement is
an added advantage.
