FLEET MANAGER
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is responsible for overseeing fleet operations, including route optimization and driver management, to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective deliveries. The role is logistics-focused, covering daily route coordination and driver performance. It also involves close collaboration with the maintenance department to support a proactive preventative maintenance program, ensuring the safety and reliability of a diverse vehicle fleet.
THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily operations of the entire vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal deployment and utilization.
- Develop and maintain efficient route planning systems for local deliveries, exports, and third-party truck hire.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics, ensuring timely and cost-effective transport solutions.
Driver and User Management
- Supervise and coordinate all drivers and vehicle users across trucks, cars, motorbikes, and forklifts.
- Ensure driver schedules, routes, and work assignments align with operational needs.
- Implement and enforce company policies related to driver conduct, safety, and compliance.
Logistics Planning & Optimization
- Lead strategic planning of delivery schedules, cross-border logistics, and vehicle allocation to meet business objectives.
- Manage relationships and contracts with third-party logistics providers when necessary.
- Ensure that documentation for exports and external logistics services complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Coordination with Workshop
- Work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure timely service, inspections, and availability of vehicles.
- Participate in planning discussions around preventative maintenance schedules and vehicle readiness.
THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance, Reporting & Administration
- Ensure all fleet operations adhere to traffic, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, incidents, fuel consumption, and driver logs.
- Prepare and present periodic reports to senior management on fleet performance, cost analysis, and operational KPIs.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements for logistics efficiency and cost reduction.
- Keep abreast of technological advances in fleet management systems, GPS, and route optimization tools.
Candidate’s profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in logistics/fleet management.
- Proven experience managing a large and diverse fleet.
Strong knowledge of route planning, export logistics, and third-party transport coordination. - Experience in budgeting and cost control
- Knowledge of fleet servicing, fleet scheduling, fleet analysis, and operations
- Solid customer service skills
