Position Title: Job Placement Consultants

Program: 10X Digital Economy (10XDE) Program

Location: Kampala, Uganda with frequent travel to other program locations

Reporting To: Job Placement Lead

Contract Type: Individual Consultant Contract

Duration: 3 months (renewable based on performance and funding)

1. Background

Women in Technology Uganda (WITU) is implementing the 10X Digital Economy Program, aimed at equipping 4800 financially disadvantaged young women across Uganda with digital skills and connecting them to work opportunities, especially within the digital economy. The goal is to place approximately 4000 young people into work by December 2027.

The Call

We are seeking dynamic and empathetic Job Placement Consultants to join our team. The ideal candidates must possess a unique blend of interpersonal skills, marketing knowledge, and ethical integrity to successfully transition young women into meaningful and dignified work opportunities.

2. Objective of the Role

To successfully transition approximately 4000 skilled young women into work opportunities by 2027.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Employer Engagement & Partnership Development

  •  Identify, engage, and cultivate partnerships with employers across relevant sectors, including tech companies, Startups, gig platforms, and freelance marketplaces (e.g., Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal), to secure remote, part-time, and full-time job opportunities for graduates. Build a robust pipeline of work opportunities by aligning employer needs with the skills and career goals of trained young women.
  • Work with Job Placement Lead to develop and manage relationships with employer partners.
  • Conducting regular employer needs assessments (2, 6, 12 months in advance) to align training with market demands.
    Participate in organizing employer and stakeholder engagement events, webinars, and industry panels.
  • Collaborate with WITU’s Curriculum development team to align training with hiring requirements.

B. Candidate Preparation and Support

  • Support participants in creating professional CVs, cover letters, and online freelance profiles (e.g., LinkedIn, Upwork among others).
  • Conduct mock interviews, career readiness workshops, and soft skills training sessions.
  • Guide participants in portfolio development and project showcasing.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching on career pathways, freelancing, and remote work.

C. Job Matching & Placement Coordination

  • Maintain a database of candidates, track their skills, experience, and career goals.
  • Match candidates for suitable job opportunities and manage the interview and placement process.
  •  Participate in conducting virtual and physical job fairs and employer-candidate networking sessions.
  •  Liaise with training centers and program teams to align training completion with placement timelines.

D. Post-Placement Support & Follow-Up

  • Maintain contact with placed candidates and employers to monitor success and address early employment challenges.
  • Provide onboarding support, including understanding contract terms, work tools, and communication platforms.
  • Facilitate post-placement mentorship and peer support groups.
  • Collect post-placement data on satisfaction, job retention, income level, and upskilling needs.

E. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of placements, employer engagements, and candidate support activities.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual narrative and financial reports.
  • Use KPIs such as time-to-placement, placement rate, and employer satisfaction to assess effectiveness.
  • Provide regular feedback to the M&E Officer for program improvement.

4. Deliverables

  • A minimum of 130 job placements every quarter culminating in 522 placements per year per consultant.
  • Participate in developing quarterly job market analysis brief/reports
  • Maintain employer database with hiring timelines and role descriptions.
  • Contribute to at least one (01) virtual or physical job fairs or employer meetups per quarter.
  • Contribute to the monthly reports on placement progress, challenges, and success stories.

5. Qualifications, training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, ICT, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in job placement, recruitment, career services, or workforce development, preferably in the digital or tech sector.
  • Strong understanding of the digital economy and remote work trends.
  • Experience working with youth or women’s empowerment programs is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with gig platforms, freelancing best practices, and soft skills training.

NB: Membership of networking business associations will be an added advantage.
