Position Title: TB Advisor- Locum
Department: Programs
Reports to: Technical Manager- Locum
Directly Supervises: None
Job Purpose
The Locum TB advisor will work in collaboration with
the program/district teams to ensure technical
soundness of the TB and TB/HIV programs. She/he will
provide technical oversight for prioritized lifesaving TB
case finding, treatment and retention for TB patients and
Preventive therapy for clients within supported
district/sites in the Ankole/Acholi regions.
Duties and responsibilities.
• Coordinate strategic work planning and
implementation of strategies aligned to provision of
prioritized lifesaving TB and TB/HIV services for
adults & Pediatric patients.
• Coordinate with the community advisor, program
and district/site team to implement active TB case
finding and retention packages, TB contact tracing
and uptake of TB preventive therapy.
• Work with the Locum Laboratory Advisor to
support project and district/site laboratory focal
persons optimal utilization of TB diagnostic services.
• Work with program officers to ensure timely MDR
TB patient evacuation.
• Work with the Locum Logistics advisor and
program/district health team to ensure TB
commodity security in the region.
• Participate in routine data analysis, performance
review and data usage to inform quality
improvement initiatives for pediatric and adult TB
and TB/HIV services.
• Coordinate and work with the Program officers and
district/site teams to conduct quarterly TB data
collection, TB EQA sampling and data
harmonization/performance review
• Spearhead development of master concepts, costed
work plans and Activity reports as per stipulated
timelines.
• Contribute to documentation of best Care & Treatment
best learnings, success stories and abstracts in the
supported districts/region.
• Perform any other duties as assigned or coordinated by
the supervisor.
Required qualifications and experience
• Bachelor of Medicine & General Surgery or Diploma in
Clinical Medicine with Project management/Masters in
Public Health as an added advantage
• Recent work experience of a minimum of five years with
TB and TB/HIV programs
• Willingness to work and travel in rural settings in
Uganda.
• Excellent written, oral communication and presentation
skills
• Computer proficiency in word, excel and power point.
