BACKGROUND
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act Cap. 161, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda, which was approved in 2008. The mandate of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development, and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation,
and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant Laws, Regulations, Guidelines, Statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda invites applications from qualified Ugandans who fully meet the required job specifications and with the right personal attributes to occupy the following position in the Authority’s established structure.

PAU/EXP/023/100: CORE STORE TECHNICIAN
3.1 Job Summary
To provide support on the maintenance of the Core Store and associated equipment and inventory.
3.2 Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Undertake daily maintenance of the Core store and geosample laboratory.

ii. Participate in data management, archival, and updating of electronic databases with respect to physical geological samples received from oil and gas activities.
iii. Prepare and maintain an updated sample database for cores, cuttings, gas, crude oil, water, and other related samples.
iv. Regularly monitor humidity and temperature readings in the Core store and report any anomalies to the Line Supervisor.
v. Undertake routine Core store cleaning and maintenance/servicing of Core Store equipment.
vi. Attend to data requests pertaining to geosamples.
vii. Participate in the procurement of consumables and equipment whenever required.
viii. Undertake storage, curation, and organization of samples in the Core Store.
ix. Undertake any other assignments as may be directed from time to time.
3.3 QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
3.3.1 Basic Qualifications
A Diploma in Oil and Gas Engineering, Petroleum Geosciences, Laboratory Technology or a related field from a recognized institution.
3.3.2 Experience
One (1) year of relevant working experience.
