Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our health programs in Uganda. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent project management abilities, a deep understanding of health systems and public health initiatives. The Program Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our health programs, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes in our target communities in Uganda.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Strategy Development:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments and feasibility studies to inform project design and implementation strategies.
2. Project Implementation and Execution:
- Lead project teams in executing project plans, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or obstacles, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Cultivate strong relationships with project stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community organisations, and beneficiaries.
- Facilitate regular communication and collaboration among project stakeholders to ensure alignment and promote transparency.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, achievements, and challenges to relevant stakeholders through reports, presentations, and meetings.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting:
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track project outcomes and impact.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data to assess project effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Document reports to communicate programmatic achievements, challenges and document lessons learnt
- Utilise evaluation findings to inform adaptive management strategies and programmatic decision-making.
5. Capacity Building and Training:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical assistance to project staff and partners to enhance their capacity.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops on relevant topics to build skills and knowledge among project stakeholders.
6. Customer Support:
- Understanding Customer Needs: It’s essential to ensure that the program meets the needs and expectations of its intended users. This involves gathering feedback from farmers, analysing it, and incorporating necessary changes into the program.
- Issues Resolution: Addressing any issues or concerns that farmers may have regarding the program’s products or services. This could involve coordinating with various teams to implement solutions and improve their experience.
- Continuous Improvement: Striving for continuous improvement in customer support processes and procedures to enhance overall satisfaction. This may include implementing new tools or technologies to streamline support workflows or training support staff to better assist farmers.
7. Stakeholder Feedback:
• Engagement and Communication: Actively engage with stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle to gather feedback, provide updates, and ensure alignment with their expectations.
- Feedback Collection and Analysis: Systematically collect feedback from stakeholders through surveys, meetings, or other channels, and analyse this feedback to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Incorporate Feedback into Decision Making: Use stakeholder feedback to inform decision-making processes related to the program. This may involve adjusting project plans, reallocating resources, or making strategic pivots based on stakeholder input.
- Build Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders to foster trust, collaboration, and support for the program’s objectives. This includes actively listening to stakeholders, understanding their perspectives, and addressing their needs and concerns.
8. Product improvement:
• Liaise with the product/data team to contribute to improvements with our data portal.
9. Marketing
• Acquiring and managing video/photo testimonials ensuring a thorough consent and media management procedure,
10. Data collection
• Oversee and conduct survey-based data collection, data quality assessment and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Project Management, Agriculture, Community development or other related fields.
- Proven experience (5 years or more) in managing projects
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan health systems, public health principles, and global health challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies, including project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
- Fluency in English
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time position based in either Kampala/Masaka. Travel to project sites and other locations may be required periodically.
