JOB TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
DIRECTORATE: FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
REPORTS TO : PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT
RESPONSIBLE FOR: ACCOUNTANT
DUTY STATION: UWA HEADQUARTERS
SALARY SCALE: UWA 05
CONTRACT DURATION: FOUR (4) YEARS
NUMBER OF VACANCIES: Two (2)
Job Purpose
To maintain ledger books and post transactions in compliance with accounting principles and regulations
Key Duties and Responsibilities
i.Verifying completeness of payment requisitions, justification and documentation of financial transactions
ii.Providing data schedules to facilitate financial and management reporting
iii.Maintaining up to date books of accounts, ledger and bank reconciliations, financial records and assets register
iv.Preparing remittances/transfers schedules of funds from the wildlife fund to operations accounts/receipts for operations
v.Liasing with URA and NSSF on statutory compliance
vi.Preparing quarterly and annual revenue and forecasts and monitoring revenue collection at the different collection centres
vii.Establishing mechanisms to ensure conformance in handling of revenue collection at the different collection centres
viii.Reviewing and monitoring customer balances ensuring that the approved credit limits are not surpassed
ix.Reviewing tax schedules and guiding on tax matters to ensure statutory compliance on VAT
x.Preparing financial investment proposals
Person Specifications
a. Qualifications
i.An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Finance and Accounting, Commerce (Accounting), or Business Administration (Accounting) from a recognized University.
ii.Full professional accounting qualification with membership to CPA or ACCA
OR
iii.Full Professional accounting qualifications with a Master degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) from a recognized University
b. Experience
At least three (03) years relevant experience, three (3) of which should have been as Accountant from a reputable Organization.
