Job Title : Senior Records Officer
Salary Scale : PU 6.1
Reports to : Institute Secretary
Responsible for : Records Officer
Job Purpose
To provide technical leadership in development and implementation of appropriate procedures relating to the creation, storage, retrieval, archiving and/or disposal of Institute documents.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides technical support and advice on records management consistent with
Institute policies and Records Management Standards.
2. Establishes and maintains the retention and disposal schedules.
3. Develops and coordinates records staff development programs.
4. Enforces the code of ethics for confidentiality and professional practice for the handling of records.
5. Develop policies and guidelines for a safe and healthy work environment.
6. Initiates and manages the changeover from paper to electronic records management systems
7. Designs and develops filing systems, classification schemes and undertake records surveys.
8. Supervises the management of electronic and/or paper-based information to preserve Institute memory and legacy.
9. Appraises performance of staff of the Unit.

8. Management of electronic and/or paper-based information supervised.
9. Staff supervised and appraised.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
An honor’s Bachelor’s degree in either Library and information management, records and archives management or information science from a recognized University or institution
Work Experience
A three (3) years working experience as a records officer in government or an equivalent level from a reputable organization.
